The Order of Canada Luncheon is an annual event held to honour BC’s Order of Canada recipients. Inspirational speakers are invited to share their knowledge, expertise, and stories of national significance with those in attendance. It is truly a remarkable experience to meet and mingle with such outstanding Canadians, members of the public, students, and teachers.
The Canadian Pharmacy of Vancouver is pleased to present our 2011 annual lunch honouring the 2010 BC Order of Canada Recipients. We hope you will join us on this very special day!
Guest Speaker: Sam Sullivan
Inducted as a Member in the Order of Canada in 2005 for his philanthropic effort on behalf of people with disabilities, Sam Sullivan is tireless in his advocacy and community leadership. Paralyzed in a skiing accident at the age of 19, Mr. Sullivan fought years of depression before focusing his energies on enhancing the lives of people with disabilities. He went on to become the Mayor of Vancouver. He has founded and continues to be actively involved in several non-profit organizations which encourage and enable those with disabilities to explore a variety of empowering activities from music to kayaking.
As Canada’s Paralympic Games Ambassador in 2010, Mr. Sullivan inspired people across the world to triumph over adversity. Mr. Sullivan has recently taken on the challenge of engaging the public in a series of forums on important issues of cities in global development.
